Drive east over the river and across the Broadway Bridge to begin your adventure in Northeast Portland. The incredible diversity of neighborhoods
and homes here almost guarantees you’ll find one that feels like home. Cottages from the 1920s, estates with a view, homes you can fix up and make
your own, you’ll find it all in Northeast.
Along the Willamette River and right on the MAX line are the Rose Quarter and the recently expanded Convention Center, homes to many large
events, from basketball and hockey games to national conventions and local exhibitions. Further east and adjacent to the wonderful homes in
desirable Irvington, are the twin streets of Broadway and Weidler, just one of the local Northeast areas where you’ll find fun shopping and
fine dining. Just to the south is the Lloyd Center, Oregon’s largest shopping mall. From here on a good day you can smell the bread
baking at the Franz bakery.
Driving east on Broadway, you arrive in the Hollywood District, named for the historic Hollywood Theatre, one of the few remaining theaters
from the vaudeville era. Homes here become more grand as you climb up toward the Alameda Ridge, especially the estates on the ridge itself
with their incredible views of downtown and all of eastside Portland. To the south is Laurelhurst Park and the Laurelhurst neighborhood,
with homes and trees that transport you back to the 1920s. You can pick up your uncle at the airport in just ten minutes from here.
Above Alameda Ridge are the Beaumont, Wilshire, Alberta and Concordia neighborhoods that have seen an incredible resurgence over the last
few years. Spend your Last Thursday of the month at the Alberta Street arts festival, complete with art openings and other fun events. See
your neighbors at the corner of NE 33rd and Killingsworth in Concordia, once empty for years, and now a neighborhood hub with the additions
of New Seasons and Kennedy School.
In Northeast, like most neighborhoods in the Portland area, you’re bound to find the street for you, one where some people have lived
there for years and others are brand new just like you. All in all, you’ll enjoy the time trading stories and remodeling tips.
